Meet the Founder

Christian P. Christensen, M.D

Hip and Knee Specialist

Dr. Chris Christensen is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 26 years of experience specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery. He earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1992, completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center, and went on to pursue advanced fellowship training in adult hip and knee reconstruction at New England Baptist Hospital.

Dr. Christensen served as Head of Adult Reconstruction Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda from 1999–2003 before relocating to Lexington, where he has practiced at Lexington Clinic and Bluegrass Orthopaedics. He has performed approximately 15,000 joint replacements over the course of his career, including thousands of hip, knee, and partial knee procedures, with a focus on minimally invasive and outpatient techniques.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Christensen developed a strong interest in the economics of surgery center operations after becoming an investor in a specialty surgery center. That experience – combined with firsthand exposure to rising supply costs – led him to found StubMed with a simple goal: to provide surgeons and surgery centers with high-quality, responsibly priced surgical products without compromising safety or performance.

Dr. Christensen remains an active practicing surgeon and continues to focus on delivering excellent patient care while helping fellow physicians access more transparent and cost-effective solutions.
